📄️ Introduction
KATEA Research Cloud (KRC) offers a private IaaS cloud solution based in Red Hat OpenStack. OpenStack is a cloud operating system that controls large pools of compute, storage, and networking resources throughout a datacenter, all managed and provisioned through APIs with common authentication mechanisms.
📄️ System Overview
The process of engaging an OpenStack cloud is started through the querying of an API endpoint. Each of the services in our cloud environment runs on a particular URL and port. These are the endpoint addresses for our services. When a client communicates with our OpenStack environment that runs the OpenStack Identity service, this service returns the endpoint URLs that the user can use in an OpenStack environment. Following the endpoints of our cloud:

📄️ Object Storage
OpenStack Object Storage (Swift) service offers “object storage as a service”. Swift is used for redundant, scalable data storage using clusters of standardized servers to store petabytes of accessible data. It uses a distributed architecture with no central point of control, providing greater scalability, redundancy, and permanence, and it ensures data replication and integrity across the cluster.
